Examinations are the scariest disasters that happen to all of us out of nowhere. And we crouch with fear everytime one of those strikes. We've all been through this situation. The words do this weird magic trick where they turn into some indecipherable alien language gawking at us with their strangeness! The panic strikes in full form when comprehension eludes us, resulting in a high pulse rate and profuse sweating. If school and college exams make you feel this way, then this list is likely to drive you insane. Let me take you through the toughest and most terrifying exams in the world.
This is the annual entrance examination for India's most prestigious engineering colleges, The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) with the lowest acceptance rate. It is usually taken by students after completing the 12th standard in their school. A staggering 1.36 million students appeared for the exam in 2014 and only 9784 students got accepted. This indicates an acceptance rate of 0.7%, which is 8 times higher than that of Harvard. This is because a seat in the IITs guarantees a stairway to a successful career. This exam debuted in 1960 and has since gained prominence by building a strong influence in contemporary Indian society.
The National Higher Education Entrance Examination, more commonly known as Gaokao is conducted annually in China. With a two-stage exam process, the terror-in-paper requires at least 18 months' preparation for students to harbor hopes of cracking it.
