The University of Hong Kong: Founded in 1911, the University of Hong Kong is one of the oldest foundations to have been a serving center of tertiary education.
The University provides Bachelor, Master, and Doctorate Degrees in the fields like –
- Arts and Humanities
- Language and Cultural Studies
- Business and Social Sciences
- Science and Technology
- Medicine and Health.
The course fee varies, depending on whether or not, the student is a citizen or an outsider. The undergraduate and post graduate fees are of an equivalent amount. For the citizens of the country, the fee ranges from $5,000 - $7,500, which equals to €3,700 - €5,500. Students who come from abroad pay an amount of $10,000 - $12,500 which according to the currency of the European Union is €7,400 - €9,200.
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University:
This University was established in 1937. It offers Bachelor and Master Degrees in the same subjects that are offered by the University of Hong Kong.
However, it does not provide Doctorate Degrees in all subjects. The subjects, which are lucky enough to benefit from the Doctorate Degree of this University are Engineering, Medicine and Health, and Business and Social Sciences.It provides a Certificate Diploma and an Associate Degree to students interested in Business and Social Sciences. The other subjects on which Associate Degrees are offered are Science and Technology, Engineering, and Medicine and Health.
The undergraduate and postgraduate fees for local students are $5,000 - $7,500 (€3,700 - €5,500) and $1,000 (€750) respectively. The amounts are $7,500 - $10,000 (€5,500 - €7,400) and $2,500 - $5,000 (€1,800 - €3,700) for outsiders.
The Chinese University of Hong Kong:
The year was 1963 when this University got established. It provides Bachelor, Master and Doctorate Degrees for the same subjects as in the above universities.The fees for both the undergraduate and post graduate courses are equal. Local students are charged an amount of $5,000 - $7,500 (€3,700 - €5,500) and for foreigners, it is $12,500 - $15,000 (€9,200 - €11,000).
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology:
Established in 1991, this University offers subjects, which are an integral part of the Universities cited above. Medicine and Health is the only subject to have been left out of the curriculum.
It provides Bachelor, Master and Doctorate Degrees; Arts and Humanities being the only subject not to have recommendations in the Bachelor’s Degree.
An amount of $5,000 - $7,500 (€3,700 - €5,500) is charged from the local inhabitants for undergraduate courses whereas $7,500 - $10,000 (€5,500 - €7,400) is charged for post-graduation.
The undergraduate fee for foreign students is not known. Probable chances of the amount to be high or equal because the post graduate fee is the same for foreigners as that of the citizens.
City University of Hong Kong:
This University started its operations in 1984. It offers the same subjects as in The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. It provides Associate Degrees in Arts and Humanities, and Science and Technology. Otherwise, it has Bachelor and Master Degrees for the rest of the subjects.
Undergraduate fee for the country folks ranges from $5,000 - $7,500 which equals to €3,700 - €5,500. Students from abroad have to pay $10,000 – $12,500 (€7,400 - €9,200). However, the post graduate fee is the same for both citizens and outsiders. That amount is similar to the undergraduate fee for foreigners.
At the Undergraduate level there are three categories of certification. They are Certificate Diploma, Associate Degree, and Bachelor’s Degree. The Master Degree and the Doctorate Degree are the two kinds at the post graduate level.
