Ways how Students can Help a Teacher Teach Better
- Jan 15, 2017
Teaching is a challenging profession and a teacher needs the cooperation of students to teach successfully. After teaching a class, it is not sufficient for a teacher to hope that students have learnt their lessons completely. Students also need to cooperate with teachers to teach them effectively.
A teacher can single-mindedly and relentlessly carry out efforts to impart best quality of education to their students; however, this will not work if the students do not help the teachers to teach them better. Hence, teachers need the cooperation of students to teach effectively.
Students can help teachers to teach them better:
1. By asking doubts in the class
Students can help the teachers to teach them better by asking doubts in their class. Teachers teach many students at a time in a class and they have no way to know if the students understand everything taught in the class. Hence students can help the teachers by asking them their doubts and getting their questions answered.
2. By practicing their lessons frequently
Students can help their teachers by practicing their lessons after the class concludes. By doing so, they will remember more and the teachers will not have to repeat the lessons which have been taught earlier. To help their teachers to teach them better, the students must practice their lessons vigorously and frequently till they master their lessons.
3. By asking the teachers to organize interesting activities such as group discussions and quiz contests
Students can ask the teachers to organize interesting activities such as group discussions and quiz contests. Using these activities will pique the interest of the students and will also make them understand and remember their lessons much more effectively. Group discussion will ensure the participation of maximum students if not all in a class. Group discussion helps students to become more articulate and confident. Weaker students will also be benefitted from quizzing as it will help them to remember their lessons and will also develop the competitive spirit of the students.
4. By asking the teachers to use more practical examples for every concept
Students can request their teachers to use more practical examples for every concept being taught in the class. This will also make the students pay more attention during the class and will encourage them to be more creative. However, teachers are required to ensure that the examples are relevant to the students and can help them in gaining knowledge and remembering their lessons.
5. By asking the teachers to use visual aids in the class such as projectors and slides
Students can ask their teachers to use visual aids during class such as projectors, presentations, infographics, and slides. Overhead projectors can be used by teachers for presentation style of teaching. Unlike teaching with whiteboard and marker pens, using overhead projectors is far easier for teachers to see and explain the things. The slides mostly contain attractive pictures and infographics with impressive font size that makes the learning process attractive for students and easier for them to understand and retain the information.
6. By asking the teachers to conduct more tests
Students can help a teacher to teach better by asking them to conduct more tests in regular interval. The regular tests will not only help the teachers in teaching the students in a better way, but will also enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the students. Conducting test is also a great way to supervise the progress of the students. The regular tests also enable the teachers to assess the aptitude and skill of every individual student and help them to grow.
